Cambridgeshire (Cambridge, Wisbech, Ely, March, Whittlesey,
Chatteris, Linton)
Cambridgeshire
has over 1700 bridges to look after, and it is their aim to keep
them safe for all who use them, whilst protecting the integrity of
their design.
There are over 30 museums in
Cambridgeshire offering an enormous range of collections in a wide
variety of different settings. They vary from small museums of local
history to the large-scale national collections of the Imperial War
Museum at Duxford.
Cambridgeshire's museums work together
in the Cambridgeshire Museums Advisory Partnership to improve museum
services and provision across the County.
Cambridge is a university city of old
streets, ancient colleges and lovely bridges spanning the River Cam
and Ely has a magnificent Norman cathedral and Huntingdon was the
birthplace of Oliver Cromwell. Wisbech, in the Fens, has fine
examples of Georgian Street architecture. Throughout the County,
there is an abundance of historic houses each with beautiful
gardens. |
